100,000 Push Ups & Benefits

Push Ups Benefits

Hello, my name is George Dirlam and I will try to pass on to you some of the push up benefits after doing over 10,000 push ups.

I am over 10% of the way to my goal of 100,000 pushups. This may take me about 7 months to complete. I have never attempted to do 100,000 pushups or even 10,000 pushups.

This seems like a long time but persistence will not be a problem as it takes me approximately 7 minutes to do over 500 pushups. It takes me 6-7 sets throughout the day to do at least 500.

As of this blog post I am now at 11,039 pushups. My start date was 10-13-14 and today is Sunday 11-9-14. I am not counting any push-ups I do in my daily workout routine and I won't count any push ups I did before October 13th.

I recently completed the T-25 workout program which is 10 weeks long. I missed two days during the program due to obligations, so I did those weeks over. This turned the 10 week program into a 12 week workout program.

Before T-25, I completed 13 weeks of Urban Rebounding extreme. Before Urban rebounding extreme, I mixed the "RIP 60" workout program with the "Insanity" workout program every day with one day off and this took about 5 months to complete.

Here is a sample of my push up totals for 2 days.

Sunday 11-9-14
Pushups - (#1) Pushups 77 at 6:31 am, (#2) 80 pushups at 7:13 am, (#3) 82 pushups at 1:12pm, (#4) 75 pushups at 4:55 pm (#5) 81 pushups 8:48 pm (#6) 75 at 8:58 pm (#7) 82 pushups at 9:32 pm...daily total = 552

Here is a sample of my Saturday totals. My goal was 3500 for the week so I was able to cut back Saturday since I achieved my goal. Saturday 11-8-14
Pushups - (#1) 55 push ups ("perfect pushup" device) 10:28 am, (#2) 75 pushups 2:51 pm, (#3) 70 pushups at 4:28 pm (#4) 75 pushups at 7:48 pm...275 total today,...3714 total for week

I max out on my pushups without stopping. One of my goals is to do over 140 pushups without stopping.

I am not going to take any rest days because it takes under 10 minutes to do my daily 500 push ups. I will rest when I sleep.

My goal to 100,000 pushups is to do at least 500 push ups per day as this will be over 3500 per week. At least 14,000 push-ups per month is the total I want to complete every month.

If you go to my Google+GeorgeDirlam you will see a picture of my arm before attempting 100,000 pushups.

One of the benefits after 10,000 pushups is my triceps seem to be slightly larger and more cut. I believe I am also seeing some benefits in my chest also.

There may also be a cardio benefit to doing pushups as I am breathing much harder after doing a set. I checked my hear rate after doing pushups in the past and my heart rate went up to 140 in less than 1 minute.

Will post a picture soon and you can judge for yourself to see if there is a difference in my arms. I am also doing my daily workout routine which is under 40 minutes. This will probably play a role but you need to exercise the rest of the body also.

For search engine optimization reasons, I am going to come back to this blog post and add more content about any push up benefits I may find in doing 100,00 pushups.

This seo technique will rank this page better on the search engines (just my opinion, and save me a lot of time over writing a bunch of new blog posts.

By doing this blog I am also testing a search engine ranking theory I have on how to shoot a webpage / blog to the top of page one with 2 out of 3 of the major search engines.

With 2 other blogs (different keywords) I was able to get blog posts to the top of page 1 of Yahoo and Bing with this technique and will test this idea again with the keyword - push ups benefits.

I will separate the new content with a divider line like the one below.

You'll Be Surprised To Learn That...

Push Ups Benefits

It only takes about 8 minutes per day!

Update 11-11-14 - My daily push ups & path to 100,000 pushups. Between these two horizontal lines are a weekly total example on how I will do 100,000 pushups.

My weekly totals start on Sunday and end on Saturday. I need to do at least 500 pushups per day to get to 14,000 pushups per month.

I recently told my friend Joyce M. from Oregon that I decided to do 100,000 push ups and here was her email response.

Oh George, Why do you take on such things. No one should do that. Its not humanly possible to do such a crazy thing. Your going to just get so thin you will blow away. I do wish you luck though, even though I do not approve.

Don't worry Joyce! I am not losing weight and this only takes about 7-8 minutes per day. Probably less time than commercials in an hour long T.V. program.

Sunday 11-9-14
(#1) Pushups 77 at 6:31 am, (#2) 80 pushups at 7:13 am, (#3) 82 pushups at 1:12pm, (#4) 75 pushups at 4:55 pm (#5) 81 pushups 8:48 pm (#6) 75 at 8:58 pm (#7) 82 pushups at 9:32 pm...daily total = 552

Monday 11-10-14
(#1) 80 pushups at 6:58 am (#2) 80 push ups at 7:07 am (#3) 82 at 10:07 am (#4) 86 pushups at 12:31 (#5) 77 at 12:39 (#6) 87 pushups at 6:07 pm (#7) 35 push ups at 10:26 pm using perfect pushup device (#8) 80 push ups at 11:17 pm... 607 total daily...weekly = 1159 weekly total 2 days.

Note - push ups are much more difficult using the perfect pushup handles. I rotated the handles on every pushup and this was challenging. When I tried a set on Friday and didn't rotate the handles the pushups were still difficult as the handles create a slight wobble in my hands.

Tuesday 11-11-14
(#1) 80 push ups at 6:55 am (#2) 81 push ups at 7:25 am (#3) 81 pushups at 11:50 am (#4) 77 at 12:17 pm (#5) 84 at 5:37 pm (#6) 85 at 7:05 pm (#7) 85 at 8:57 pm ...573 daily total...weekly total = 1732

Wednesday 11-12-14
(#1) 82 push ups at 7am (#2) 81 at 7:30 (#3) 83 push ups at 11:50 (#4) 80 at 12:13 pm (#5) 85 at 5:10 pm (#6) 80 pushups at 5:46 pm (#7) 31 at 7:30 with perfect pushups handles with rotation (#8) 67 pushups at 9:17 pm inclined off of the Urban Rebounder....589 daily total

Doing pushups off of the Urban Rebounder seemed more difficult than the floor as the surface is flexible creating a slight bounce movement.

My exercise program for today was RIP60 dvd #12 "Fat Shred" (about 25 minutes) with Jillian Michaels. After T-25 I added 250 bicycles (that hurt), 52 tricep dips, 150 small crunches, 45 large crunches and pushups with the perfect pushup handles.

Thursday 11-13-14
(#1) 86 pushups at 6:58 am (#2) 82 at 7:30 am (#3) 80 at 4:25 pm (#4) 78 pushups at 4:52 pm (#5) 82 at 5:23 pm (#6) 75 at 6:32 pm (#7) 63* push ups at 7:30 pm inclined off of rebounder (#8) 35 at 10:34 pm using perfect push up handles with rotation (#9) 75 at 11:45 pm...656 daily total....2977 weekly with 2 days left.

Additional daily workout - T-25 "Upper Focus" (about 28 minutes) After T-25
Abs - 250 bicycles
Tricep Dips - 52 off edge of Urban Rebounder
Abs - 150 small crunches
Pushups - 63* inclined off of Rebounder
Abs - 45 large crunches

Friday 11-14-15
(#1) 82 pushups at 7am (#2) 77 at 7:31 am (#3) 80 pushups at 12:15 (#4) 84 at 5:10 pm (#5) 82 pushups at 5:49 pm (#6) 73 at 6:35 pm (#7) 63 at 7:39 pm....541 daily totals....3518 weekly totals with 1 day left for more push up totals.

My daily workout Friday was T-25 "Core Cardio". I do not count any push ups in my daily workout program towards my 100,000 push-ups.

After T-25 I added some additional exercises similar to the example below Thursday's totals.

Saturday 11-15-14
(#1) 83 pushups at 1:12 pm (#2) 91 pushups at 1:57 pm (#3) 81 at 2:28 pm (#4) 85 at 3:13 pm (#5) 83 pushups at 3:37 pm (#6) 84 at 6:11 pm

It was about the third week of doing pushups that I decided to do 100,000 pushups. After realizing I could do at least 3500 pushups per week or 14,000 per month, that's when I decided to just do 100,000.

For the first 3 weeks, I was just attempting to do 140 without stopping

1713 push ups Monday 10-13-14 through Friday 10-17-14
2030 push ups Monday 10-20-14 through Friday 10-24-14
3032 push ups from 10-25-14 through 11-1-14
3714 push ups from Sunday 11-2-14 through Sat. 11-8-14
4025 push ups from 11-9-14 through 11-15-15

14,514 total pushups with 85,486 more to do.

Push-up totals since October 13, 2014 = 14,514 total.

I will provide a benefits update at 20,000 push-ups. I am trying to increase my totals so I can do less push ups on Saturday. Saturday is my rest day from exercising.

At this point I don't believe I need a rest day from pushups but if I increased my totals to 700-800 per day, I may need a rest day.

The content between the horizontal line below and the horizontal above the red headline near the 11-11-14 update, is an example of my pushups for the week and months to come.

Pushups, push ups or push-ups?

The Benefits You Receive Will Be Worth Many Times The Price

I need to increase the number of pushups I am doing in my sets without doing too many sets per day.

My solution is to rest 15-20 seconds after I max out on my push-ups, then max out again right away.

Here is an example of my pushups today. I already did a couple of sets before implementing this idea to increase my daily push ups.

Sunday 11-16-14
(#1) 80 pushups at 7:09 am (#2) 81 at 1:22 pm (#3) 80 pushups at 1:37 pm (#4)85 pushups stop 15 seconds, 25 more pushups at 4:14 pm
(#5) 83 pushups stop 15 seconds, 27 more pushups at 5:50 pm (#6) 81 pushups stop for 15 seconds, 20 more pushups ....562 daily total

Going to try my new idea on all my pushup sets on Monday.

My workout today was T-25 "Dynamic Core" and I added 1 set of ab work afterwards. I am adding 250 opposite elbow to knee while on my back to my daily pushups and I may up the total to 2 sets of 250.

Update 11-18-14 My totals have increased without having to do more sets throughout the day. I am now over 700 pushups per day and keeping the sets to 6 and 7.

After doing pushups, I rest for about 20 seconds then max out again. Here is an example from the last 2 days.

Using this method to increase my daily totals will also take more time. 7-8 minutes daily now is probably at least 10 minutes per day.

Push Up Routine

Monday 11-17-14  (#1) 87 pushups,rest 20 seconds another 25 pushups at 6:57 am (#2) 81 pushups + 22 pushups at 7:31 am (#3) 85 pushups then another 28 at 12:18 pm (#4) 77 plus 28 pushups at 12:33pm (#5) 87 pushups 20 second rest 32 more pushups
(#6) 60 pushups (my daughter was making me laugh, had to stop) 20 second rest, then 50 more pushups (#7) 83 pushups, no 2nd set...total daily = 705 pushups

Tuesday 11-18-14  (#1) 100 pushups, then 25 more 7am (#2) 87 + 25 pushups at 7:30 am (#3) 87 pushups at 12:15 rest 20 seconds 32 more push ups (#4) 77 + 31 at 12:30 (#5) 6:25 pm 91 + (20 sec rest) 25 pushups (#6) 82 pushups, rest 24 pushups (#7) 87 pushups at 11:03 pm.....773 daily total

Completed 100 pushups for the second time without stopping. My original goal before attempting 100,000 pushups was to just do 140 pushups without stopping.

Pushups since October 13, 2014 = 16,554. I am still not able to do 140 pushups without stopping.

Persistence is the key - more pushups to come. My daughter recently told me that a friend said that his mother could do 200 pushups without stopping when she was younger. - ouch!

Wednesday 11-19-14: I have gone over 800 pushups in a day for the first time, this took 8 sets throughout the day. I believe 1000 push-ups per day is achievable.

Physically I feel fine and have also been doing my daily workout routine along with some additional ab work after my daily workout. All exercises consume less than an hour per day.

The RIP60, Insanity, T-25 workout programs are harder to do than the pushups, in my opinion.

(#1) 84 +26 at 7:03 am (#2) 87 + 25 at 7:32 am (#3) 92 + 28 at 12:23 pm (#4) 70 + 33 at 12:30 pm (#5) 88 + 31 at 5:05 pm (#6) 83 + 25 at 7:30 pm (#7) 81 pushups at 9:21 pm (#8) 65 at 10:11  (did not max out, wanted to go over 800)...818 daily total.

My second pushups are always after about a 20 second rest. My favorite pre-workout drink is  - Coffee.

Push Up Routine

This ongoing push up routine is now at 19,643 push-ups since October 13, 2014.

For the week 11-16 through 11-22-14 my totals for the week are 5129 pushups.

Here are my weekly totals

1713 push ups Monday 10-13-14 through Friday 10-17-14
2030 push ups Monday 10-20-14 through Friday 10-24-14
3032 push ups from 10-25-14 through 11-1-14
3714 push ups from Sunday 11-2-14 through Sat. 11-8-14
4025 push ups from 11-9-14 through 11-15-15
5129 push ups from 11-16-14 through 11-22-14
Total = 19,643 pushups for 6 weeks

I now do 2 pushup sets in the morning, 2 sets around noon, 2 sets in the early evening and 1 to 2 more sets later in the evening to go over 700-800 pushups per day.

After maxing out on my pushups, I rest for about 20 seconds then try and max out again. Each set consists of 2 rounds of pushups.

20,000 Push Ups

Now over 20,000 pushups since 10-13-14 with 80,000 more to go to achieve 100,000 push ups.

Will post my Sunday totals later tonight after I complete all my sets.  There have been no push up rest days since October 18-19 when I decided to increase my daily push up totals.

Feel fine with no rest days although I do take Saturday off from my daily workout routine. Since I recently finished T-25 I have not been on a set exercise program but have been mixing T-25 every other day with RIP 60 dvd #12. I also add extra ab exercises after my daily workout routine.

First thing in the morning when I get up I drink about 32 ounces of water followed by a large cup of coffee.

Here are my push up routine totals for Sunday. I will post daily totals occasionally as this blog will get very long by the time I get to 100,000.

Sunday 11-23-14
(#1) 87 + 30 @ 6:27 am (#2) 80 + 32 @ 6:56 am (#3) 82 + 32 @ 7:37 am (#4) 87 + 50 @ 8:25 am (#5) 95 + 40 @ 1:46 pm (#6) 81 + 35  (#7) 80 + 30 @ 8:32 pm (#8) 77 pushups @ 9:23 pm....daily totals  = 918

918 pushups in a day is my highest total for a day. I was thinking about doing another set to go over 1000 for the day but decided over 900 in a day is plenty.

Just had to do a 9th set so I could go over 1000 pushups for the day. (#9) 83 + 30 @ 10:43 pm = 1031 push-ups on Sunday

Total push-ups from 10-13-14 to 11-23-14 = 20,674 push-ups

Monday 11-24-15
(#1) 80 + 32 @ 6:55 am (#2) 81 + 24 @ 7:34 am (#3) 85 + 33 @ 12:19 pm (#4) 81 + 35 @ 12:32 pm (#5) 80 + 27 @ 5:35 pm (#6) 81 + 42 @ 5:54 pm (#7) 77 + 27 @ 7:18 pm (#8) 83 + 25 @ 10 pm (#9) 80 + 41 @ 10:58 pm.....daily totals 9 = 1014

Tuesday 11-25-14: Totals for the day = 1032 push ups.                 Pushups to date = 22,720

Wednesday 11-26-14: (#1) 85 + 35 = 120 @ 7am (#2) 85 + 43 = 128 @ 7:33 am (#3) 80 + 42 = 122 @ 1:17 pm (#4) 90 + 35 = 125 @ 2:43 pm (#5) 80 + 35 = 115 @ 3:41 pm* (#6) 80 + 32 = 112 @ 4:10 pm (#7) 71 + 35 = 106 @ 6:58 pm (#8) 83 + 50 = 133 @ 10:09 pm (#9) 75 @ 10:20 pm....daily totals 9 = 1036

For some unknown reason, on set no.7, I had my lowest pushup total for some time. I got really tired all of a sudden and was not able to make it to at least 80. Maybe I was doing the pushups slower?

Since Sunday, I have been able to do at least 1000 pushups four days in a row. I will try to finish out the week with 1000 a day pushups.

Finished out the week at 24,797 pushups. I increased my pushups to 1000 + per day so I decided to take some rest days. I did not do any pushups or workout on Thursday (Thanksgiving) and Friday.

Those were my first rest days from pushups since October 18th & 19th. I am reconsidering rest days when doing over 1000 + pushups everyday. Maybe 2 days off for every 25,000 pushups?

Let's Be Honest About Push-Ups

They are not fun!

You will have to put in the work. "You can't hire other people to do your push ups for you". - Jim Rohn

It's Sunday 11-30-14 and I just went over 25,000 pushups today. I took three days off from my daily workouts and two of those days I didn't do any pushups either.

My daily workout today was Urban Rebounding Extreme - MT, dvd #12 with Keli Roberts. I was holding two 5 lbs dumbbells throughout most of this workout and this was about a 48 minute workout.

My forearms are a little sore so I only did 810 push-ups today.

Here are my daily totals for Sunday 11-30-14  (#1) 81 + 40 @ 7:40 am = 121 (#2) 81 + 32 @ 8:37 am = 113 (#3) 83 + 27 @ 12:53 = 110 (#4) 81 + 35 @ 1:57 pm = 116 (#5) 81 + 29 @ 5:25 pm = 110 (#6) 82 + 32 @ 7:14 pm = 114 (#7) 83 + 43 @ 9:26 pm = 126 ....daily totals = 810

Total since 10/13/2014 = 25,607

Monday 12-1-14 total 9 sets for 1014 push-ups with the new total now at 26,621. Today's workout was T-25 "Core Cardio".

My Best Push Up Routine Totals For One Day

Tuesday 12-2-14 today' pushup routine.
(#1) 82+37 = 119 @ 7 am (#2) 85+43 = 128 @ 7:30 am (#3) 90+40 = 130 @ 12:33pm (#4) 81+35 = 116 @ 1:03 pm (#5) 82+40 = 122 @3:44 pm (#6) 81+45 = 126* @ 4:55 pm (#7) 82+33 = 115 @ 8:50 pm (#8) 88+45 = 133 @ 9:26 pm (#9) 70+70 = 140 @ 10:15pm ....daily totals 9 = 1129

I kind of feel like a push-up junkie now.  I'll get to a push up total like 680 and feel like I need to do a few more to go over 700. Since I max out on my pushups in every set this takes me close to, or over 800, and then I fell like I have to do a few more to go over 900. Now 900 is too close to 1000, sheesh!

I feel like that guy waking up from a nightmare at the top of this blog post. I am consistently doing 1000 + push-ups per day now.

My daily workout today was Urban Rebounding Extreme - MT, dvd #12 Keli Roberts, with 250 additional bicycle sit ups & pushups 81+45 = 126* after the rebounding exercise.

New totals Tuesday 12-2-14 = 27,750

On Wednesday 11-3-14 my daily totals were 1081 for the day totaling 8 sets.

Wednesday 12-3-14 pushups to date = 28,831.

Thursday 12-4-14 (#1) 82+35= 117 @ 7:03 am (#2) 85+32 =117 @ 7:31 am (#3) 91+42 = 133 @12:22 pm (#4) 80+51 =131 @ 12:32 pm (#5) 91+51 = 142 @5:40 pm (#6) 80+45 = 125 @ 7:18 pm (#7) 77+63 = 140 @ 7:40 pm (#8) 77+40 =*117 @ 8:42 pm (#9) 80 pushups at 9:58 pm....daily totals 9 = 1102

Totals since October 13, 2014 = 29,933

Friday 12-5-14 - 1039 in 8 sets.

Update 12-7-14: I's Sunday 11:38 pm and I did 1018 push-ups today. I didn't do any exercises or pushups yesterday. I felt I needed a rest day from pushups. Saturday's is my rest day from my daily workout.

(#1) 81+40 = 121 @ 6:37 am (#2) 85+35 = 120 @ 7:34 am (#3) 84+40=124 @ 2:54 pm (#4) 85+35 = 120 @3:39 pm (#5) 90+51 = 141 @ 6:12 pm (#6) 85+45 = 130 @ 7:12 pm (#7) 87+60 =147 @ 7:56 pm (#8) 80+35 = 115 @ 9:14 pm ...Sunday 12-7-14 daily totals 8 = 1018

My total pushups for last week were - 6175.  My new totals as of Sunday 11:42 pm are  - 31,990.

68,010 more seems a long way to go. This will test my persistence!

Update 12-8-14, It's Tuesday and I completed 1124 pushups in 9 sets but didn't do a second round in the 9th set. When I was writing down my results I noticed I was 5 away from Tuesday's 12-14-14 total of 1129 and was thinking about doing a few more to go over that total.

Where would it stop? I would just see my new total another day and have to surpass that total also. I didn't do the extra pushups to go over that total for that reason.

Went to sleep last night past midnight and woke up about 2 hrs later from a dream I was having. I was dreaming about doing pushups - no joke! This is weird, I need to get this goal done and over with.

Thinking about doing 1200 per day with one day off. This would give me over 7000 per week with a rest day. 28,000 per month would get this goal done much faster than my original plan of 7-8 months.

After my morning sets I will be 1/3 of the way done. My new total as of this entry, is now - 33,114. My daily workout today was "Body Beast" Cardio, approx. time 30 minutes.

1200 Push-Ups

Benefits update Tuesday December 9, 2014.

1200 pushups in a day is something I believe I can do 6 days a week. It took me 9 sets to do 1214 pushups today.

My new total is - 34,328

My pushups this week have increased in the amount I can do per set. The two reasons are a rest day & increasing rest between pushups.

I had a rest day on Saturday, no pushups and no daily workout. Increasing the rest period about 30 more seconds in each set has allowed me to do more pushups in the second round of each set.

Tuesday 12-9-14 totals

I will do 1200 push ups on Wednesday also.  There is a slight soreness / burning sensation in my chest, triceps, biceps, forearms, shoulders latissimus dorsi & rib area.

My calves and legs are sore but this may be from my daily workout. Monday's workout was "Body Beast" cardio & today's workout was T-25 "Speed 2.0".

Changing my workout programs everyday between 3 programs may be causing some of the mild soreness. I have not lost or gained any weight in 34,328 pushups since October 13, 2014.

Wednesday 12-10-14 totals. 1226 pushups was completed in 9 sets with 2 rounds in each set. There is a daily soreness in my upper body & arms now and I will need a complete rest day on Saturday. Today's workout was "Body Beast" Cardio.

Recently I purchased the "Body Beast" program which requires some additional weights and equipment. I still need some additional weights and look forward to starting and completing this exercise program.

December 11, 2014 Thursday's pushups

Adding a third set in some of my rounds today has allowed me to complete 1214 pushups in 7 rounds. Yesterday it took me 9 rounds and it was already 9:30 pm before I finished. Today I was finished by 7:43 pm by adding a 3 sets in 4 of my rounds.

On the last set of the 7th round I did not max out as I only want to complete 1200 per day for now.  Since taking a rest day on Saturday the 6th, my first set pushups in almost every round have increased.

I have a slight soreness mainly in my chest, arms, shoulders, calves and rib area. My daily workout today was T-25 "Rip'T Circuit".

Total push-ups since Oct. 13, 2014 = 36,765. Today is Thursday 12-11-14.

It's been easier to do 36,765 pushups than to do 102 pushups without stopping. On Tuesday 12-9, I was able to do 101 pushups without stopping.

Push Ups Everyday

I am taking two showers per day so I don't smell like someone who is doing 1200 push-ups per day!

Saturday was a rest day, no pushups and no workout. I didn't do a daily workout on Friday. I now have a slight soreness / burning sensation everyday, mainly in my upper body, so I need to have 1 day per week of no pushups, no workouts.

Sunday 12-14-15 = 1213 pushups for the day in 6 rounds with 2-3 sets in each series. 39,221 pushups since Oct. 13, 2014 and I will go over 40,000 on Monday. My daily workout for Sunday was Body Beast - Cardio, approx. 30 minutes.

40,000 Push-Ups

It's Monday 12-15-14 and I have just gone over 40,000 push-ups in about 2 months.

In the future I will be more careful about the bright ideas I get when taking a shower. The 100,000 pushup idea came to me when I was taking a shower thinking about how many pushups I could do in a week. 3500x4 = 14,000 per month....100,000.....7-8 months?

In routine #7, I was able to do 102 without stopping, this is my new high. When I got to 101, that last pushup to get to 102 was not easy. How many more pushups do I have to do???

New totals  = 40,433, plus 102 push-ups (new high) without stopping.

My daily for Monday was - Body Beast Cardio. This is a difficult 30 minute cardio workout. This workout uses dumbbells.

Note: I am finding 1200+ pushups per day to be a bit challenging. It's not the 1200 that is too difficult, it's the 1200 six days per week. I seriously doubt I will increase the amount to over 1200 per day.

Today's workout was T-25 "Core Cardio". This is a 25 minute workout plus a 2 minute 30 sec. stretch. This workout will make you sweat!

Push-ups in 2 months plus 3 days = 41,653

It's 11:54 a.m. and I am feeling kinda of tired now. More pushups in the morning!

It's Wednesday! I started of the morning by doing 103 push-ups without stopping. My previous high was 102 and before that, it was 101.

I guess that's how it's going to be, only able to break my previous high by 1. Oh well, I am still happy about doing 103.

It's 8:53 pm and I still need to do 252 to get my 1200 in.

After doing 42,872 push-ups since 10-13-14, I have not gained or lost any weight. I find this very interesting, my weight stays within 4 lbs. all the time. My workout today was T-25 "Speed 2.0", which is a 25 minute workout with about a 3 minute stretch after the workout.

Wednesday Dec. 17th totals - (#1) 103+50+51=204 @ 6:50 am  (#2) 81+60=141 @ 7:03 am  (#3) 87+50+45=182 @ 4:23 pm  (#4) 92+65+68=225 @ 5:50 pm @  (#5) 81+60+65=206 @ 7:29 pm  (#6) 83+61+57=201 @ 9:39 pm (#7) 60 @ 10:12 pm...daily totals 7 = 1219

Push-Ups Everyday?

I take Saturday's off but other than that day, yes, I am doing pushups everyday on my way to 100,000.

It's 10:17 pm and about 25 minutes before writing this paragraph I just finished my 8th set. My totals are 1222 for the day, 6086 for the week with one day left, and 44,094 for the grand total.

Saturday 12-20-14 is a rest day. No exercises or pushups today.

For the week of 12-14-14 through 12-19-14, I did 7399 push ups taking today (12-20-14) off from pushups & exercising.

Total pushups = 45,407

Updates from Friday 12-19 through Friday 12-26

It's the day after Christmas and I did not do any pushups on Christmas or do a daily workout.

After doing over 50,000 push-ups I am going to take 3 days off from pushups.

My new highs without stopping.

On Tuesday 12-23-14 I was able to do 105 pushups without stopping for a new personal best.

I was behind Wednesday morning & jammed 1026 pushups together between 11 am and 1 pm. My goal was about 600 to get caught up but kept going and pumped out 1026 by 1 pm.

Sunday 12-21-14 I did 1225 and Monday 12-22-14 did 1224.

Total Pushups Oct. 13, 2014 through Dec. 24, 2014 = 50,340

My arms & chest are still sore even after 2 day of rest. Another day of rest and I will start the 2nd half of my 100,000 journey.

For Christmas I received a BodyBlade as a gift and was trying it out and this may be the reason I am sore after two days of rest.

Benefits?

I must be getting slightly stronger since my pushups without stopping have increased. My arms and chest seem to always be sore now.

It's 12-26-14 10:40 pm and I will rest another day although I will mess around with the BodyBlade throughout the day Saturday.

More pushups to come, will post soon.

Rest Days - Thursday 12/25, Friday 12/26, Saturday 12/27

50,000

Sunday 12-28-14 - Back to Push-ups, here are my Sunday totals.   (#1) 85+70=155 @ 335 pm  (#2) 90+65=155 @ 3:50 pm  (#3) 81+65=146 @ 4:05 pm  (#4) 82+65=147 @ 4:20pm  (#5) 85+70+61=216 @5:13 pm (#6) 80+42+67=189 @5:35 pm  (#7) 65+58=123 @ 5:48 pm  (#8) 71+40=111 @ 8:57 pm...daily totals 8 = 1242

Once again I got behind on my routine and had to jam a bunch of set together. I only needed about 69 more on the 8th set but always do a few more to make sure I go over 1200 per day.

After taking 3 days off, I didn't feel like doing my routine but I am not quitting now.

New totals = 51,582

It's Thursday 1-1-15 and I completed 1217 today, 1225 Wednesday, 1234 on Tuesday, 1221 on Monday the 29th of December for a new total of 56,479 since 10-13-14.

For search engine optimization purposes I need to quit using the word push-ups so much in this blog. Over use of the main keyword is not effective for the organic search engines.

The holidays are over and I need to clean my diet. I only gained 1 pound from my regular body weight high, which fluctuates 4 lbs during the week.

Gaining weight can creep up on you as fat weighs less than muscle so you don't see movement on the scale but body fat cometh.

Happy New Year!! 2015

It's Sunday 1-4-15 and I completed 1312 today for a new total of 59,006. See my Sunday pushup routine totals on Google+ and let's connect there also.

Update Sunday 1-11-14: It's been a week since I updated my totals. After completing 1211 in six rounds today,  my new totals since the start of this is - 66,398.

In each round there are usually 2-3 sets.

I post on Twitter more often and my daily totals can be seen there also. My totals for last week = 7493 from 1-4-15 through 1-9-15 with Saturday the 10th a rest day.

Very soon I will hit the 70,000 mark and this will mean I am only one month away from 100,000 pushups.

After completing this journey, I think I will do two sets per day, maxing out on each set.

Rebounding is also a part of my daily routine now.

Update: It's Monday 1-19-15 10:10 pm and earlier tonight I surpassed 75,833 total pushups since I started this fitness goal.

116 without stopping is my new high which I achieve on Tuesday the 15th. I was then able to do 117 without stopping on Friday the 16th.

It's been easier for me to do 70,000 of these than to do 118 without stopping. That is crazy!

Friday 1-16-15 (#1) 117 (new high) +85+70=272 @ 7:03 am (#2) 80 @ 7:33 am (#3) 102+65=167 @ 12:28 pm (#4) 101+82+89=272 @ 5:43 pm

  • 7354 pushups from 12-28-14 through 1-2-15 Sat.3rd rest day
  • 7493 from 1-4-15 through 1-9-15  Sat. 10th was a rest day.
  • 7413 from 1-11-15 through 1-16-15 with Sat. 1-17-15 rest day

I do 1200 plus per day with Saturday's as my rest day.

In the morning before my first round, I now do a slight warm up with my Urban Rebounder and then the Bodyblade. The warm up is about 5 minutes and then I do my first round.

Update Thursday 1-22-15

I finished my rounds for Thursday and I have now done 78,748 pushups since 10-13-15.

Here are my Wednesday and Thursday totals.

Wednesday 1-22-15 (#1) 119+90+65=274 @ 6:49 am (#2) 85 @ 12:20 pm (#3) 110 @ 12:20 pm (#4) 110+103+92=305 @ 6:23 pm (#5) 114+104+93=311 @ 9:24 pm (#6) 95+90+60=245 @ 9:53 pm...daily totals 6 = 1230

Benefits - Before starting this routine in October I was having slight shoulder pain that was ongoing for about 2 years. I believe my shoulder pain has decreased after all these pushups.

The shoulder pain has not increased.

After doing about 30,000 I was a little concerned about the repetitive motion of doing so many of these. There has been no problems after 78,000 plus.

Has it been difficult doing 78,748? Yes! I do not recommend trying this many. I will be finished in about 20 days and will not attempt this again.

I will probably do 2 rounds everyday with one maxed out set in each round after I complete 100,000.

Please connect with me on Google+ and Twitter as I post my results in those social sites also.

Here are my daily totals for Tuesday 1-27-14. I am doing a little over 1200 per day 6 days a week. (#1) 110+95+80=285 @ 7:01 am (#2) 100+102=202 @ 12:34 pm (#3) 75+75+75+90=315 @ 5:46 pm
(#4) 80+80+91=251 @ 6:48 pm (#5) 110+90=200 @ 8:54 pm...daily totals 5 = 1253
Pushups since 10-13-14 = 83,721

Wednesday (28th) morning I did 131 for my new high without stopping. I am now 9 away from one of my original goals of 140 without stopping.

Thursday 1-29-15: I ate at a buffet tonight and my stomach still feels like it wants to explode!

At the buffet, a thought came to me as I was sitting at the table.

There should be a digital sign at the exit showing how many calories each person consumed at the buffet, as they walked under the sign - lol. My calories consumed at the buffet would have been off the charts!

I still need to do 102 pushups tonight to reach 1200.This should benefit me tonight.

Last night I was working on my WordPress blogs and autoresponder and at 11:52 pm realized I didn't complete my 1200 plus for the day.

I finished out 2 sets of 70 at 11:56 pm to get in my 1200 for the day. Wednesday 1-28-15 I did 1208 for the day.

As of now, at 9:17 pm on Thursday the 29th I am at 86,027 with at least 102 more to do tonight.

Doing a Yahoo & Bing keyword search tonight, I am on page 2 of both those search engines with this blogpost for the keyword - push ups benefits.

This post for that keyword took quite a while, at least 3 months to show up on Yahoo & Bing. I don't know at this time where it ranks on Google.

Update 9:44 pm Wed. 29th. I just finished 125 (75+50) more which gave me 1223 for the day and a new total of 86,152 since October 13, 2014.

Tuesday 2-3-14 10:54 pm pacific time. I have been working on other blogs so I have been a bit slow to post in this WordPress.

My new totals are now 89,865 and I did 1280 today (Tuesday) and Monday I did 1217 for the day.

Follow me on Twitter as I have been posting my new totals there more often.

Getting near the end with about 10,000 more to go. I will get back to a regular exercise routine after I am done with these in about 10 days.

There is a slight soreness in my arms and chest that never seems to go away now. Once I stop doing these 1200 plus push-ups per day that soreness will soon disappear.

My high without stopping is 131 and I did 121 today without stopping. Hopefully I can get to 140 without stopping in the next 10,000.

Finally, a Light at the End Of The Tunnel and it's not an Oncoming Train

Push ups routine

I am getting near the end of this 100,000 journey. I will be happy to be done with this.

Will I try this again? No!

Push ups first thing in the morning, at noon, after work, before and after dinner, push ups in my dreams.

Maybe I will max out once or twice a day after this is done in a few days but I haven't made up my mind for certain.

2-8-15 Sunday 1296 total for the day. Pushups since 10-13-14 = 94,844

  • 7424 from 1-18-15 through 1-23-15 with sat. rest day
  • 7344 from 1-25-15 through 1-30-15
  • 6180 from 2-2-15 through 2-6-15

Originally I thought this would take me 7-8 months to complete. I will have completed this in 4 months.

Doing this many per day is probably not a good idea. I focused too much on completing this goal and it diverted me away from my daily workouts near the end of this journey.

To much of anything is probably not going to be good for you. I wanted to get through this as quickly as I could and 1200 per day is a bit much.

Somewhere on the Internet I saw someone do 1 million in a year and this would mean I would have do 4000 per day 6 days a week for a year. 1200 per day is difficult enough.

I don't want my upper body to be sore everyday for a year. I think I will pass on doing 1 million in a year.

2-9-15 Monday 10:56 pm and I am now at 96,061 with 1217 as my daily total today.

I will probably start right away on RIP60 or T-25 on Friday.

100 plus pushups without stopping is part of my daily routine now. My high without stopping today was 120.

It's 2-10-15 Tuesday and I achieved a new pushup high without stopping - 136.  My goal since the start of this has been 140 without stopping.

It's 8:11 pm and I am at 690 for the day and have to get to 1200 and it's getting late.

Be right back, going to get the other 500 plus done.

Finished the rest of this routine at 9:27 pm and completed 1232 for the day. I am now at 97,293.

Here is how I did my routine today (2-10-15).

(#1) 136(new high)+105=241 @ 7:06 am (#2) 116+105=221 @ 12:35 pm (#3) 123+105=228 @ 6:32 pm
(#4) 111+101+85+85=382 @ 8:40 (#5) 80+80=160 @ 9:27 pm...daily totals 5 = 1232

My times are when I finished the last set in each round.

When I started this blog, I would wait a minute or so and start the next set.

I have increased my totals by giving myself more rest between sets.

In round #4 the final 2 sets, I did not max out. The same goes for round 5. Sometimes I just don't feel like maxing out on every set.

New Push-Up Routine High

2-11-15 Wednesday I was able to do 1723 in 6 rounds. This is my personal high best for a day.

I needed to add at least 200 more to my daily routine to finish this journey tomorrow.

My new total  since 10-13-14 = 99,016

It is now 9:58 pm and I just finished the last set in my 6th round. here are my totals for the day.

(#1) 110+100=210 @ 7:09 am (#2) 100+102+85=287 @ 1:19 pm (#3) 75+100+90=265 @ 2:15 pm (#4) 110+107+90+80=387 @ 6:22 pm        (#5) 107+110=217 @ 9:11 pm (#6) 100+92+80+85=357 @ 9:50 pm....daily totals 6 = 1723 for Wednesday Feburary 11, 2015.

It has been easier for me to do 99,016 pushups than to do 137 pushups without stopping.

That is in a nutshell, why must people don't like pushups.

I have been working on a website about the benefits of Fulvic Acid. Throughout this workout regimen I have been taking at least 1 capsule of fulvic acid per day and sometimes two tablets.

With less than 1000 more to go, I will be done with this routine tomorrow.

This has been the longest blog post I have ever done. I did not want to write a bunch of blogs on pushups so I decided to just do one continuous blog on this routine.

See you tomorrow!

100,000 Completed

On Thursday 2-12-15 I completed my 100,000 push-ups.

After completion on Thursday, I didn't do any more on Friday, Saturday or today which is Sunday.

I still feel a soreness in my arms and chest.

Tonight or tomorrow I will begin a regular full body workout routine again.

Shoulder Pain Update 2-27-16: For about 18 months before starting my 100,000 push-ups I was experiencing shoulder pain. It's  been over 1 year since I completed my task and I have no shoulder pain.

The shoulder pain was bothering me enough before I started my routine that I had 3 or 4 visits to a specialist Doctor about my pain.

I do not recommend 100,000 push-ups for an alternative to shoulder pain, these are just my results.

I did not do 100,000 p.u. to try and fix my shoulder pain, I started my task before I thought about the pain and decided to proceed.
