Hello, thank you for visiting my blog post about the best exercise to lose weight, my name is George Dirlam.
I was about 30 lbs overweight in 2010 and was ready to find the best exercise for weight loss.
In 2010 I bought the “Insanity workout” program, completed the program and lost 20 lbs in about 9 weeks time. If you are 30 lbs or heavier, I don’t think I would go this route.
Insanity is a very tough workout program and the “warm up” in the first 10 minutes is really a workout. Be prepared to starting dripping with sweat during the stretch, right after the warm up. Then be prepared for a very fast paced and extremely tough exercise program following the stretch.
The Insanity workouts are about 1 hour long. I believe I have completed this program 3 times over the last couple of years.
To lose weight you need to be persistent.
After Insanity I gained the weight back in about a year. Whatever exercise program you decide to do – do not stop after completing the program. Find another workout program or do the same one over, just keep going!
My best recommendation is do at least 20 minutes of exercise 5-6 days per week.
Probably the fastest way to lose weight safely is to start adding a quality meal replacement shake to your diet.
One shake to maintain your weight, two shakes for weight loss. Each shake should replace a meal.
My First Weight Loss Experience
I think it was 1994 and I bought a “C” program from Herbalife. I was looking for an extra income opportunity and thought I should try the products first before promoting anything. I am not a Herbalife distributor now.
Long story short, I lost 16 lbs in three weeks with no exercise. The first couple of weeks my pants kept getting looser but my weight wasn’t dropping. Then the third week and “BAM”, the weight dropped off. I can’t remember every detail since that was 20 years ago, but I clearly remember, 3 weeks to lose 16 lbs.
The products were costly back then, but what isn’t expensive today, although I don’t know the costs of their products today.
I do know a distributor, here is her Herbalife website, if you want to go that route for weight loss.
I like that weight loss tea they have, but haven’t purchased any in at least 6 months. Otherwise, I don’t take the Herbalife products, but I do know they worked for me twenty years ago.
Here’s what I do now to maintain my weight and keep fit.
I workout 6 days a week and have at least 1 meal replacement shake per day. I recommend an “Isolate” protein powder shake instead of a “concentrate powder” shake. Isolate is a higher quality then concentrate to the best of my understanding.
On Friday 7-25-14 I finished 13 weeks of “Urban Rebounding Extreme” which I did without fail for 6 days a week, for 13 weeks. Each workout was 50 minutes long with no breaks, except for a quick sip of water.
Read my last blog post Best Exercise to Lose Weight to learn more about “Rebounding exercises”.
My workout today was “T-25” day #2 “Speed 1.0” and this workout was 27 minutes long. After my workout I did 30 tricep dips off of the edge of the rebounder followed by 30 curls with 15 pound dumbells in each hand. I then did 20 more tricep dips and 20 more curls, followed by 10 more dips and 10 more curls.
I then decided to do 125 jumping jacks on the rebounder and then did some very brief stomach exercises. The T-25 workout was half the time as “Urban Rebounding Extreme” so it seemed short in time, I then decided to add some additional exercises after the workout.
Don’t be fooled though, T-25 is a tough workout program, I would recommend doing it for weight loss and keeping fit.
Also, before work in the morning, I did 60 pushups without stopping, and at lunch, before I ate, I did 55 pushups without stopping. I add pushups morning and noon to keep burning the calories. I try to keep a “continuous burn” going throughout the day.
Hope this blog post helps you with your weight loss and fitness. Keep coming back for future workout blog posts and other topics.
Future posts will also include other exercise programs I have completed for keeping fit.

I recently put together a blog called “10 Banana Band” as I wanted to eat 10 bananas in a day to test if I would gain weight, or lose weight eating 10 bananas in a day. I ate 10 bananas in a day twice. Go to www.10bananaband.com to learn if bananas are fattening, and you can also join the 10 banana band and become a band member.
